I. The rich man was lost and didn't know it. Acts 10:1-2, 44-47

Many people are devout and religious but are unsaved. 2 Corinthians 4:24; Matthew 7:22

II. The rich man died and did not expect it. vs. 22-23

III. The rich man went to hell and could not change it. vs. 23

Revelation 21:8; 2 Corinthians 6:2 - There is no second chance after death.

IV. The rich man wanted another chance but could not get it. 

He wanted mercy.

He wanted to be where the believers were.

I. There is a full membership in God's kingdom. Matthew 7:21

God claims those who are doing His will as His children.

There are those who embrace the "Christian" faith.

There are those who embrace the church fellowship.

It is exciting for a few years; then, they begin to squawk and squeak; they have no Oil because they are not truly saved.

II. There is full assurance of God's kingdom. John 7:17; James 1:22; 2:17-26; Romans 12:2

When you get saved, you want to be involved.

III. There is full involvement in God's work.

You can't claim spiritual kin if you are not doing God's will. Matthew 12:50; 7:21; 1 John 2:17

God is omnipotent - all-powerful.

God is omniscient - all-knowing.

God is omnipresent - everywhere.

Psalm 94:9; 121:3-4; Jeremiah 23:23

You can run from God, but you can't hide.

I. Adam and Eve tried to hide because of things forbidden by God.

God did not hold the woman responsible.

Women make emotional decisions and try to pressure their husbands.

God forbids things for our good and His glory.

II. Achan hid because he had stolen the firstfruits. Joshua 6:18-20; 7:20

The silver and gold belong to God. Malachi 3:10

III. Saul hid his total obedience.

IV. The servant hid his talent.

His talent was taken away and given to the servant who was a good steward. 2 Samuel 12:2; Numbers 32:23

V. Jonah tried to hide from God.

VI. Revelation 6:15 - Some try to hide from God because they are not saved.

1. The first proof of salvation is forsaking. - Old things are passed away.

You have to turn from your sin. Moses forsook Egypt.

2. There is a turning to - followship. John 10:27; 1 Thessalonians 1:9

The Thessalonians turned from idols to God.

1. We must make a clean break with the world.

Our strength is in submission, not independence.

Our responsibility is to please God.

2. To prove is to illustrate the correctness of something.

- A good testimony

People don't just need to hear God's Word; they need to see the evidence.

3. To prove is to put forth indisputable evidence.

Neglect is to brush something aside. Acts 24:25

A convenient time will never come. 

Some let others turn them aside. 

Hebrews 3:7-8

"Escape" denotes urgency.

One day it will be too late.

People did not believe Noah until it came to pass.

"Salvation" denotes urgency.

Someone saving your physical life is not the same as Jesus saving you for eternity.

2 Corinthians 6:2 - "NOW"

We have no promise of tomorrow!

The composition of life - We start out with strength.

The coming of sorrow - Sorrow comes to all.

Some are soon cut off. James 4:13-14

Everyone has peer pressure; we can choose from whom the pressure comes.

Sources of wisdom:

1. In print

2. In prayer

3. In being separated from the wrong crowd

Number our days.

Apply our hearts to wisdom.

Don't waste your years.

Eph. 5:15-16 - "redeeming the time"

Wallowing over past failures or reveling in past victories only wastes the present.

Luke 5:10 - "henceforth" - from this point forward

Romans 6:6 - unto - pointed toward

"as long as I live" - Job 27:6

Paul was faithful to the fight.

Paul was faithful to the faith.

Paul was faithful to the finish.

Psalm 104:33 - Keep singing praises; don't become bitter.

Psalm 22:3

Judah means "praise." Judah always led into battle.

Acts 16:25 - Paul and Silas praised God.

Give your all in the last days; don't give up!
